A news item from the Hollywood Reporter:
Self portrait: Dylan signs for an HBO specialNot that I'm sympathetic to the writer's opinion, but there's a not-too-positive concert review at the Boulder News site: Dylan marks tour finale with lackluster show.Bob Dylan is venturing into television, signing a deal with HBO to star in a one-hour special created especially for him by Emmy Award-winning writer-producer Larry Charles. Details are being kept under wraps, but the variety-like special will center on the legendary musician and feature plenty of music and comedy. "It's Bob Dylan doing a TV show," said Charles, a writer and producer on "Mad About You" and "Seinfeld." "And like Bob Dylan himself, it will be unpredictable, unsettling, distinctive, original and entertaining all at the same time. You'll walk away feeling satisfied." Although plans are for one special, both sides are not ruling out the possibility of more. The music selection has not yet been determined, though sources said classic and original Dylan music will likely be featured.
