The June issue of Uncut is a special collector's edition featuring Dylan as the "The Ultimate Rock Icon". Two covers were released, one showing young folksy Dylan, the other mid-Sixties mod Dylan. Each came with a different CD of Dylan covers by prominent musicians. The articles are the same, but the CDs are different. Clearly Uncut was hoping the Dylan fans would buy one of each. You can probably still order these from the Uncut site. Or check out my scans of the two covers.

He's covered plenty of Civil War tunes, so who better qualified to write an new one? The upcoming Civil War movie Gods and Generals will feature a new Dylan song, "Crossing Over the Green Mountain," on its sountrack. Here's a comprehensive site about the film, expected to be released in December.

Longtime biker Dylan played Harley-Davidson's 100th Anniversary fest at Maryland's Pimlico Racetrack in August. The Harley-Davidson site has a brief description of the event and several attractive photos of Mr. D.

Here's an interesting article about the Chelsea Hotel, with a few tid-bits about Dylan. Among them is the suprising fact that one of Dylan's sons was born in the Chelsea Hotel. But tourists be forewarned: bohemian reputation notwithstanding, the Chelsea is as expensive as any New York hotel, minus the amenities, but plus the ambience and history.

Wonder if he stays there? Until I saw the link on Expecting Rain, I never noticed the Dylan Hotel although I've lived in New York City for 12 years.

Leave it to Expecting Rain to find the most unusual Dylan links. This is from "Celebrity Customers" section of the Billy Martin (Western wear) site. Dylan is featured wearing a pink, pearl-snapped cowboy shirt from the famous store (if you're looking for something similar, be forewarned of Billy Martin's rock-star price tags).

A freakish news item about 4 Dylan songs played during a murder trial. The defendant was trying to demonstrate that Dylan, like himself, was the victim of a consipiracy. At this point, I'm sure even the oldest judge on the bench is well aware of the plethora crackpot theories about Dylan songs.

From Rolling Stone, yet another one of those, "he's still touring" articles. The media never tires of remarking on Dylan's seemingly "Never-Ending Tour," despite Mr. D.'s insistence that the Never-Ending Tour actually did end some years ago.

From the Independent, a review of the Cardiff show.

A fairly comprehensive Masked and Anonymous page on movies.com

Some big-name actors have taken a pay cut to for the chance to appear in the BBC-funded Masked and Anonymous. The actors will be paid Equity's minimum rate.

More Masked and Anonymous news. Apparently there were more stars that wanted to play a part than there were parts for them to play. I wonder who got turned away?

A fascinating Tour Diary written by a roadie for Asleep At The Wheel, who opened for Dylan, is on the sonicnet site.

Curious about the European tours? Follow it with Dylanbase on the Road, or check out the Dylan bootleg database at the same site.

Another road diary offered up by Guster.com: check the August 1st diary for a description of the band meeting Dylan and the delicious food served up by the Dylan tour chef.

National Public Radio has an archive of Dylan radio program segments. These RealAudio files are about Dylan, rather than interviews with him.

For Dylan media appearances prior to June 1999, see 20 Lbs. of Headlines, a massive list of articles about Dylan. Not all of them are linked to the actual article, but there is still hours of reading to be found here.

The best source for interviews is News and Interviews at Boblinks. Magazine and newspaper articles can also be found here.
